Showing up consistently to achieve your business goals
Recently, I've been thinking about what it really takes to achieve your goals and I realised that no matter what the goal is, no matter what 'bucket' of your life it falls into, there is one key thing that needs to happen in order for you to achieve those goals.
The answer??? Showing up consistently.
Whether your goals are around developing your relationships and friendships, renovating your house, saving for a holiday, achieving a work promotion, striving for the next rank in your multi-level marketing busines, or even around your fitness, self-care or mindset - showing up consistently is important in every part of your life.
But what makes showing up for some goals consistently, easier than others.
Urgency? Pain point? Fear?
Often, what's stopping us from showing up for our goals are the excuses we are telling ourselves.
I can’t! Others have it easier! What will people think! I'm too busy! I don't know how!
If you've got some big goals you're currently working towards, but are feeling a little stuck when it comes to making them happen, then I'd love to share with you a few things that have work for me.
Work out the non-negotiable parts of your life and with importance.
You're probably thinking that your non-negotiable things are work, the kids schedule, the cleaning (the list could go on forever!), but it's not!
The absolute non-negotiable, of upmost important is YOU and your self-care.
Before you think to yourself 'Yeah right, maybe you can fit it in, but I've got way too much going on to fit in self-care time'.... Firstly, check back over those excuses I mentioned earlier - we all have the same amount of hours in a day, and we all have a million and one things to juggle. Secondly, just hear me out before you decide that this whole 'self-care thing' isn't for you.
Self care doesn't have to look like going on a week-long retreat, or spending a whole Saturday in a day-spa. In fact, it's quite the opposite - it's about how you're showing up for yourself on the day-to-day basis.
Self care can be done in short bursts, and every single one of those short bursts adds up, slowly filling your cup.
There's a great book called 'The third space’, by Dr. Adam Fraser, which explores how success is found in all the small moments - they all count towards creating our happiest, healthiest lives.
Here's an example of how you might be able to fit in some small moments of self-care:
A 3 minutes stare into the sky first thing in the morning
Not picking up your phone the moment you wake up
Listening to your fav music while preparing the lunches
Deep breathing once you have layed in bed for the night.
A cup of tea of coffee
And if you can find the bigger gaps.
Get your body moving. Exercise, find a fun hobby, meditate.
Study something that lights you up.
And the most important one. Find a moment of pure silence!
You don’t have to do them all, but try to fit in a couple. Now thats in your diary. Let look at adding the time you have to go to work. Pop those into your diary, along with all the other important elements of your daily life:
Time for your business, where does that fit? Family time
You time And space for allowing life to take place.
Remember these all don’t have to be big chunks of time.. Here's what I mean....
When I had a toddler and a new born, I was growing my home based MLM business and about to hit a 6 figure annual income rank. So you can see I didn’t have all the time in the world.. Actually it felt like I barely had any time.
I literally had a goal and vision so I made it work. Exercise looked like walking to the park, or playing hide and seek. Self care looked like letting the water running over my face for a few extra minutes in the shower. Working on my business looked like the kids coming with me to meetings, late night calls while they were feeding, and while they ate lunch I would send a couple of messages and emails. The most important thing for everything is to consistently show up for your goals. So schedule it in. Give yourself the time to look after yourself, so when you show up to your business, your cup is full, your energy is high and your motivation is at its max.
Don’t let weeks and months go by without taking consistent action towards your goals - this is where momentum stops and makes it harder for us.
Keep on showing up. You know you can and you are worth it. You just have to believe.
Lots of love
